Hereward Show 2026 Final Preview

Peterborough Wargames Club are proud to present the Hereward Wargames Show 2026 on Sunday September 6th at the Cresset, Peterborough. This year’s show will once again feature an impressive selection of participation games, traders and other gaming related activities, and we are particularly pleased to welcome multiple Golden Demon and Slater Sword winner Richard Gray as our guest judge for the painting competition.

GAMES

This year we have twenty games for you to try in scales from 1/300 to 70mm, including popular rule sets such as Battletech, Burrows and Badgers, Lion Rampant, Gaslands and Trench Crusade. For the full list of attending games please see the Games page of the website. We are grateful to all the clubs and individuals hosting games this year for bringing them to the show. Remember that these are all PARTICIPATION games which you can play!

PAINTING COMPETITION

We are delighted to welcome Richard Gray as the guest judge for our painting competition. Entry to the competition is free with your admission ticket. There are five categories: Single Miniature, Unit or Squad, Monster or Vehicle, Display and Under 16 Open. You are allowed one entry in each category you qualify for. This year there is a cash prize and trophy for the winner of each category and a further prize for the Best in Show entry. We are grateful to Artis Opus for supplying prizes. The Painting Competition will be found in the small hall (turn left on entry) where there will be sign-up sheets and display tables. Entries must be received by 12pm and the winners will be announced at approximately 2:45pm. For full terms and conditions please check the website.

TRADERS and TABLE SALES

Of course no wargames show would be complete without traders to tempt you in to buying more models. This year we have 18 traders offering everything from traditional metal models to 3d printed models, books, tools, paints, brushes and more besides. Warlord Games will be bringing their sprue recycling bin to the show where you can dispose of any old Warlord Games sprues you no longer require. Check the Traders tab on the website for a full list of attendees.

In addition to the traders we have our regular Table Sale which allows members of the public to sell their unwanted items. As these tables are sold in one hour slots there should be a constantly changing selection of items for you to peruse. There will also be a sale of items belonging to Peterborough Wargames Club members. The Table Sale will be located in the small hall, near the painting competition.

PARKING and ACCESS

We have plenty of free on-site parking. You can also use theshopping centre car park but please note that it is limited to 4 hours. We don’t recommend parking in Aldi! The Cresset is located at the terminus of Stagecoach bus routes 2 and 3, both of which run half-hourly from Peterborough city centre (route 3 is the quickest). The show is located entirely on one floor with good access for the mobility impaired.

FOOD and DRINK

The Cresset will be providing catering for our event. To eat in the morning there will be a selection of breakfast rolls, with hot food such as chips and pizza being available midday until approximately 3pm. There will also be hot and cold drinks and hopefully the licensed bar will be open too. Food will be found in the long corridor leading away from the smaller of the two halls – look for internal signage! The Cresset also has its own pub, The Fayre Spot. If you’d prefer something different, Bretton Centre is a few minutes’ walk away where you’ll find a Sainsbury’s, Aldi and Costa.

TICKETS

If you haven’t already booked a ticket for this year’s show hopefully this preview will tempt you to come and see us. The show is open from 10am to 4pm. Discount advance tickets (£4) and any remaining Table Sale slots will be available until 9pm on Saturday 5th September from www.hereward-wargames.co.uk – you don’t need to print them, just show us your barcode or QR code on entry. On the day tickets cost £5 and payment by cash and card is accepted. In all cases accompanied under 16s are admitted free of charge.

See you on September 6th!
