Dr. Harry Sidebottom returns!

We’re very pleased to announce that historian, best-selling author and wargamer Dr. Harry Sidebottom will be returning to the show again this year, with, no doubt, copies of his latest novel, “The Last Hour” in hand. He has been writing historical fiction set in his favourite period, the Crisis of the 3rd Century, since 2006 with the Warrior of Rome series, as well as a well-received book on Ancient Warfare. He’s also a very entertaining after-dinner speaker (as those of us who attended the club Christmas dinner a couple of years ago can attest), and is a keen wargamer, so see if you can entice him to have a go at one of the games on offer!
Catch his latest chat with Henry Hyde to hear more.
Harry will be on hand to talk about all of the above at stand To8, between the Concourse and Studio 2.

Tournament update

Due to a lack of take-up, we regret to announce that the Gaslands, SAGA and Magic tournaments will not now be going ahead. Those who have already entered will be issued refunds via Paypal shortly. Our thanks and apologies to Andy from Ainsty Castings and Mike Hutchison, author of Gaslands, for their help in organising the events thus far.

The X-Wing tournament, sponsored by local game store The Rift, however, continues as planned – there are still spaces available, too!

Advance Admission Tickets and the Show Miniature

You can gain discounted admission to this years show by buying your ticket in advance from this website, and whatsmore it will guarantee that you get this year’s show miniature (more below). Discounted admission tickets cost £3, a saving of £2 against the door price, and can be purchased by here.

As mentioned above, buying a discounted entry ticket will ensure that you recieve this year’s show miniature for which we thank show sponsor Footsore Miniatures. The miniature is based on a Samurai and comes with the option of a traditional sword or a laser sword – you could call him Hereward Spacerunner or something similar!

Trader News

As we suspected, Warlord were not to be the final trader we announced for this year’s show as we have been able to squeeze in a late booking from Stand To Games.

From the success of the Napoleonic war game rules Over the Hills, authors Quinton Dalton and Adrian McWalter formed the company Stand to Games Ltd early 2017. Their aim is to provide a series of army lists, accessories, 28 mm figure ranges and products to compliment Over the Hills as well other rule sets and gaming periods. Adrian and Quinton have been war gaming since their early teens so have over 80 years of experience between them!

Tabletop sale!

Slots are available for the tabletop sale now: see the sidebar for details.

We’ve revamped things for this year slightly. First off, there are now five, rather than four, one hour slots, starting at 10am rather than 10:30am. If you’re booked in for the 10am slot you’ll be able to get in a little bit ahead of time to set up. Secondly, we’ve changed the prices slightly – the average cost of a table is still the same, but they now range from £7 down to £3 as you get later in the day. As before, this doesn’t include admission.

We would ask, as a courtesy to other traders (and we’re aware our store won’t let us restrict this in software) potential traders could restrict themselves to a maximum of three slots initially.

Trader News

The 20th and final (for now…) trader we can announce as attending this year’s show is Warlord Games.

Formed in 2007, Warlord Games are designers, manufacturers and distributors of finely detailed historical and science fiction miniatures in plastic, metal and resin. Since then they’ve released five core rule sets to cover everything from the Ancients, the Horse & Musket era, the Black Powder era, right through the World War Two and beyond into the future!

Trader News

Trader number 19 for 2018 is a Hereward ever present. Yes it’s Ainsty Castings.

Ainsty Castings manufacture wargaming miniatures and scenics in resin and White Metal and are an excellent source for Saga, Gripping Beast and Northstar miniatures.

Andy from Ainsty will be the host for our Saga Melee, tickets for wich can be purchased here.
