The second confirmed trader for this year’s Hereward has supported both the previous shows, so we are delighted to welcome back Ainsty Castings.
Ainsty produce a wide range of resin scenic items and are also a main stockist for Saga and a number of other 28mm scale historical ranges.
We are now in a position to announce some of the traders that are confirmed as attending Hereward III.
The first trader is a newcomer to our show but not to the show circuit. We are pleased to welcome Barwell Body Works.
Barwell Body Works supply Airbrushes and relevant accessories, and also offer tuition in the use of such tools.
We will be announcing more traders over the next few days. If you are a trader and are interested in attending please get in touch using the link at the top of the page.
It’s that time of the year again – the website gets updated, the forms get redone, we send off to Vistaprint for the first batch of flyers…
So, if you’re clutching a flyer in your hand from Hammerhead, you’ll be delighted to know that you can book your ticket in advance right now from the menu on the right. Additionally, if you’re interested in putting on a game, or having a trade stand, the links are ready and waiting.
A huge thank you to Chris Malme from Posh Games, who some of you may have seen walking through the show during the morning with his Ricoh 360º camera on a stick. So, if you missed the show or would just like to relive a stroll through the stands and games, check THIS out!

To our surprise, and slight bemusement, a UPS delivery man knocked on our chairman’s door on Wednesday and delivered a box of 250 of Gripping Beast‘s finest Harald Hardrada figures! Bemusement because they were supposed to be delivered to a local UPS drop off point, but given that the chairman’s wife was in at the time, all was well.
Once again, our thanks to Gripping Beast for the figures, and for lighting a fire under UPS, and to Harald himself.
You’re probably now wondering “I was at the show and missed out – how can I get hold of one of these?”
Unfortunately, mailing them out would be prohibitively expensive (it would kill a sizeable part of next year’s budget), and we don’t have all your addresses anyway. So, here are your choices:
- Collect one from the club on a Monday night – we’re at 38a Cowgate, Peterborough (the St. Johns Ambulance building under the arch) from 7:30 to 10:30;
- Catch Reuben (our secretary) at PE2Collectables at a wargames show, or let him know when you place an order.
- If you have other suggestions, please drop us a mail at the address on the right or poke us on Facebook, and we’ll see what we can work out.
Obviously, we are going to have to rely on your honesty to prove you were at the show, but wargamers are in general decent folks, so…
We have a goal of making each show better than the last. To this end, we’d like your feedback on this year’s show, what you think we did well, what we can improve. If you would like to, please feel free to fill out the form below and tell us what you think.
The bad news – Gripping Beast have heard from UPS and to quote the latter “we’ve lost it”. It has been diplomatically suggested they find it again PDQ.
The good. We’re heard from the man himself! No, seriously,. Our chairman tweeted:
You had one simple job, @ups_uk… https://t.co/MxbqIWMHds
And Harald himself replied:
@TaTM_blog To be clear, I have always been free, vassal to none.
So we explained:
. @hardrada_1066 To illuminate the tale. We commissioned LordS (@Gripping_Beast) to make 12 score and ten of your likeness in metal [1/5]
. @Hardrada_1066 …as gifts to inspire those skilled in the art of war at @HerewardWGS. This LordS did, and consigned them to @ups_uk [2/5]
. @Hardrada_1066 This Upsuk (@ups_uk – a name that sits ill on the tongue) has, as far as we may ascertain, accepted coin for the… [3/5]
. @Hardrada_1066 …carriage of these gifts and then LOST them. We and LordS are most displeased at @Ups_uk’s disrespect to your self… [4/5]
. @Hardrada_1066 …as are our 12 score and 10 warriors, who beg that we lead them in arms at @Ups_uk to recover your and their honour. [5/5]
Earl Sigurdsson has replied:
@TaTM_blog @UPS_UK As your soon-to-be king, I am both flattered and enraged. I am a just king, but I can be severe. I will rule on this.
So that’s another show done. We’d like to say a big thank you to our headline sponsors Gripping Beast; tournament sponsors Gripping Beast (again), The Rift, Shire Post Mint, Banter Behind the Throne and Mantic Games; Wayne and Wargames Illustrated; Karen, Alison, David and Grant at the Cresset; and to all our traders and game organisers. Additionally, we as a club would like to thank all our volunteers for helping shift stuff at the beginning and end of the day, but most of all you, a big thank you to you. the wargamers, for coming along and helping make it a great day. Many more attendees than last year – a rough count suggests that we had getting on for 400 not counting our traders and game organisers. Thank you all, and we’ll see you on September 3rd next year!
Still to come:
- Tournament results
- More on where Harald has got to!
- Photos and more
As you will be aware if you made it to the show, Harald… didn’t. The box(es) of miniatures made it onto a UPS truck in Northampton and Friday, and there the story ends. As soon as UPS can figure out what happened to him (and perhaps have their manager call me from a number I can actually call back), we will let you know how you can get hold of your free figure. As of now, they appear to have less information than they did on Friday.
Once again, our apologies for this. Both we and Gripping Beast are extremely disappointed in UPS, and will be making every effort to figure out what happened and extract compensation.
Handed in to our reception desk at the show around about lunchtime – silver and black slim HTC mobile in black wallet-style case.
Currently with our chairman in Peterborough. Please drop us a note at the usual contact address, and tell us what carrier it’s on to confirm it’s yours.
Update: owner traced 😀
